Digital Matchmaking Summary
A lot has happened since we first kicked off our Berlin-China networking programme in August 2020. With the pandemic still ongoing, we, as so many, were not able to proceed with our delegation tours to Shanghai and Beijing planned for early 2021. Instead, we introduced a series of matchmaking events for Berlin and Chinese companies working in the design and sustainable-tech industries in order to foster business relationships between companies from China and Germany.
Fast forward just a couple of months, we are happy that so far, we have connected several Berlin companies through an active participation in our events with interested Chinese companies and Design Associations. On top of that we were delighted to welcome several external viewers to join our events.
With Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics (ITSA), one of the world’s leading apparel fabrics and accessories fairs, we launched our digital business matchmaking series. On 18 March, Berlin companies from the CN-BC network presented their sustainable tech solutions for the fashion and textile industry to an interested audience of Chinese fashion professionals on the ITSA-main-stage. The following matchmaking event took place on 14 April in cooperation with Invest Shanghai 2021 (Shanghai Foreign Investment Development Board). After several insightful keynote speeches, selected Chinese and Berlin companies introduced themselves and entered into a fruitful exchange about digital creativity and ICT. We wrapped up this first series of digital business matchmaking events with an event organised together with +86 Design Sharing Platform. Under the theme of “Innovating food products and brands”, innovative companies from Berlin and China presented their expertise and entered into connection with each other to explore further collaboration opportunities.
We plan to return with a new series of matchmaking events towards the end of this year. Until then we will organise further digital Meet-ups providing our Berlin network with inspiration and information on the topic of business relations with China. We look forward to welcoming you there.
“The participation has inspired me sustainably. Recognizing where companies from other cultures have their focus, values and visions, and understanding how similar or different perspectives exist lead to a common understanding of challenges and tasks. The informal exchange made it very pleasant for everyone.”
Rolf Mehenrt – CDO, Fuenfwerken Design AG
“Thank you for providing such a good platform for exchange and bridging the design cooperation between China and Germany. This meeting deeply felt the preciseness and logic of German design thinking, which are very thought provoking for enterprises in terms of product development and branding. We hope to discuss brand design and product development in depth with German creative professionals in the future, so as to provide delicious, entertainable and thoughtful products for Chinese and foreign consumers.”
Mr. Shaoming FENG – Design Manager, Zhuhai EuLong Food
“Through this brokerage meeting, we not only learned about the latest trends from the best design agencies in the field of food design, but also seemed to have joined a “group of friends” , which led to the beginning for future international cooperation and exchanges.” Ms. Zhouziling – Planning Manager, Zhuhai Design Centre
